Why Switch to Stretch Mark Creams?
Article Source: HealthSnare.com
One of the times wherein we can expect stretch marks to form is during pregnancy. Because of this, a lot of women anticipate and try to prevent these scars from forming by applying creams on the areas that are prone to stretching the farthest, such as the thighs, hips and belly. Unfortunately, regular creams have very little effect in increasing the skin's elasticity and preventing stretch marks from appearing.
A better alternative to use is stretch mark creams which are made specifically for preventing and eliminating stretch marks. It basically works by increasing the elasticity of the skin so that it is more resistant to tearing. This is not needed for regular use, but for instances when you are expecting your skin to stretch dramatically, it would be a great in helping prevent skin from tearing and eventually forming stretch marks.
These stretch mark creams work either by directly supplying your skin with the proteins that it needs to become more elastic, or it stimulates the production of these proteins by your body. By increasing the collagen and elastin stores of your body, the body will have more building materials to increase the elasticity of the skin.
Aside from their specific action, stretch mark creams also have the same skin nourishing effects as the other regular lotions and creams. This way, you won't have to worry about your skin becoming uglier as you will still have the moisturizing and rejuvenating effects of your regular cream.
Another good thing about these specialized creams is that they may be a lot safer for you and for your baby as they are made especially during this time. Regular creams may have some adverse effects on your baby due to the number of artificial ingredients that they include in their formula. Stretch mark creams on the other hand, have to be safer and take the health of your baby into account when applying this cream.
By using these specialized creams, you are greatly reducing the risk of stretch marks forming, but it does not mean that it will work 100% of the time. There are times when the skin can be stretched past its limit no matter what you try to do. When this happens, the dermal layer of the skin can still break and resulting in the formation of stretch marks.
This does not mean that you are also wasting your money by using this cream. Instead of having 10 stretch marks, using creams can help decrease the number of these marks. This way, there would be very few marks that form compared to when you don't use this cream at all.
When expecting stretch marks to form, don't continue using your regular creams as this will have very little effect in reducing the risks. Switch to using stretch mark creams so that you have a better chance in fighting against the effects of increased stretching of the skin.
