The Factors That Lead To Addictions
Article Source: HealthSnare.com
The addiction issue is a reality that most scientists try to find explanations for. Why do people become addicts is beginning to find answers. Both physicians and psychologists are working together to find a solution to help those who have a substance abuse problem of any kind. The answer seems to be in the reasons why people start abusing in the first place. Even though people have access to information nowadays, they still make the wrong choices and ignore the possible consequences of their actions.
The biological factors and the environmental ones work together and push people towards developing an addiction. Experience has thought scientists that those who take drugs or abuse alcohol or other substances have children who are prone to becoming addicts if they do not take measure immediately. The genetic construction influences a great deal the probabilities of developing an addiction. This is why some people do not even want to try taking drugs. However this is like playing the roulette. You can never know if you have the genes that can turn you into an addict, so it is better to stay clean in the first place.
Drug addiction and brain diseases are most of the time interconnected. It is proven that those who have mental disorders are more vulnerable to abusing drugs than healthy people. However, even if a drug addict doesn't have a mental disorder, he will get one after a prolonged abuse. This is why it is better to fight the addiction with both the medical and psychiatric treatment most drug rehab centers can offer their patients.
Besides the genetics and physical disorders, addictions are also influenced by the social environment. Teenagers and young adults are the ones that can be influenced really easy by the people who surround them. They feel the need to integrate in a social group, so they borrow the habits of those in the group. In fact most addicts admitted that it was a friend or an acquaintance who introduced them to the drug world in the first place.
Boredom and stress are other two factors that influence the decision of taking drugs. People seek in drugs the comfort and relief of forgetting what bothers them. Unfortunately they cannot face even the most common problems without using. So everything turns into a habit they cannot give up without specialized care in rehab clinics.
