Calming Anxiety-Ridden Pets The Natural Way
Article Source: HealthSnare.com
Pets are very similar to humans. They can suffer from stress and anxiety just like we do. When something traumatizing happens in their life they can be affected by it just like we can.
Pets who are suffering from stress and anxiety can get aid. Essential oils are a wonderful tool to help your pets heal. Natural medicine can really help because they offer less negative side effects than the traditional medicine does.
The two essential oils we are going to talk about in the blog are Roman Chamomile and lavender. Both of these items can help pets that suffer from hyperactivity, depression, and fear. They can help with any types of feeling of anxiety.
Talk to your vet about what they would recommend. They will give you more specific instructions about how to properly use the essential oil with your pet. Animals can be very sensitive, so you can dilute it by using a carrier oil with the original essential oil. Here are a few examples of treatments.
If you have a dog, calm him with 1 drop of lavender and 1 drop of Roman Chamomile that has been mixed with a carrier oil. This mixture should be safe to comb through their fur or directly applied. Rub the mixture on the dog's pads of his feet and on his ears.
The same mixture can be used with most animals, including horses. Horses can have the oil applied to their muzzle or cornet bands. A lot of people still prefer applying it to their horse's ears.
Be wary of essential oils and cats, however. Cats lack an enzyme that allows their liver to digest phenols. It is very important to not use oils that contain phenols, such as oregano and thyme.
Roman Chamomile and lavender are completely phenol free and are very safe to use on cats. Unlike the other mixture, however, when working with a cat you should use 10 drops of carrier oil instead of just 1. They are much more sensitive, and need it a lot more diluted than most animals.
