There is pressure applied in the jaw joints located in front of the ear when chewing and grinding food takes place. Start chewing if you already put your fingers in front of your ears. Your jaw joint and muscles' rippling can be felt. Incorrect bite may cause pain to soar.
These headaches can be found either on both sides of the head or on the other side, but in most cases, it is located around the temples. There is greater pain felt whenever you chomp on food, chew gum or flap your jaw. If you grit your teeth when under stress or tension, then this can be severe. This is called TMJ disease by dentists and doctors for short.
A simple way to determine if your headache is prompted by TMJ disease is to place your fingers into your ears and chew. Once you feel pain in pressing on the joints through the ears, then you have a TMJ disorder. This problem may be solved by a dentist. The dentist will make you comfortable by not having your jaws to jiggle, and with this, there will be balance on your bite, filling off portions of some, teeth and building up others. While sleeping, jaws should be kept a bit open, one should have a suitable brace and one should exercise the jaws. This kind of headache is a lot curable and less serious than others such as migraines which cause nausea and vomiting. In migraine, arteries outside the head increase in blood flood. So as a solution, traditional treatment has primarily consisted of medicines that would enable this flow to reduce.
A treatment of spasm of blood vessels to the heart was developed seven years ago, a medicine called propranolol. The doctors have noticed have noticed that angina and migraine are suffered by some patients, a head pain and a heart pain respectively. The patients' migraine improved when they were treated with the new medicine.
Propranolol enlarges the systemic circulation and blood vessels of the heart. With this kind of act, blood pressure is lessened and angina heart pain is mitigated. However, in one test that was conducted, half of the 60 migraine patients were relieved after taking up propranolol instead of taking up placebo.
It is obvious that propranolol is effective for some migraine sufferers. However, side effects namely irritability, sleeplessness or drowsiness, diarrhea and abdominal cramps go along with it. This drug also has significant effects on the heart and circulation. There is a big chance that the basic treatment is still with methergyside which is an LSD analog. Propranolol proved to be effective to some patients but even so, the medicine's side effects are still being observed.
