Men and Botox- is it the new must have treatment?
Article Source: HealthSnare.com
Ok, so when you think about Botox, you automatically associate it with middle-class women trying to look younger. But now more and more men are opting for the treatment as the stigma attached to it changes.
Let's face it, men want to look good just as much as women do, but publicising the fact doesn't seem to be at the forefront of many media campaigns. More often than not, it's women who feel the pressure to look young as many magazines feature beautiful, fresh-faced women, what they don't realise is that many have been airbrushed to look that way.
Perhaps what is more surprising to know, is that men can be just as concerned about their physical appearance as much a women, but actually admitting to it could be seen as quite feminine. As we move into more modern times, it is becoming more acceptable for men to ‘groom' and pay more attention to their appearance without the worry of being ridiculed.
With more treatments now available for men, there has been a significant rise in male Botox which is fast becoming part of a man's skincare routine.
‘Boytox', as it is more commonly referred to, is now the must-have treatment for men with celebrities such as Simon Cowell opting for regular treatments. And not only is it the reasonably wealthy London city worker types getting treatment, more regular men are popping off for an injection or two in their lunch breaks.
It is becoming more popular for men in their early twenties to prevent the onset of wrinkles rather than trying to hide them, which is something that is perhaps not associated with Botox. Not only can it reduce the appearance of wrinkles already on the face it can also have a great impact on the development or wrinkles, which could delay the ageing process in both men and women.
With the current job market the way it is and many people being forced out of work due to the recent recession, the competition for jobs is on the increase. With that in mind the pressure to look young and vibrant could mean that more men and women are opting for Botox and last year it was reported that more men are turning to Botox to help them stay in the competition for any jobs on the market.
The procedure for getting is really easy and appointments can be made to coincide with a lunch break. With this in mind, one of the main stigmas for men not opting for the procedure is the pre-conception that taking time off for Botox is not considered the ‘bread winner's role. Now they can pop in and out of the clinic without anyone knowing they have even had it done and not losing any time off in the process.
So, with the treatment being more socially acceptable and affordable more men will be opting for it. There will be no doubt that we will see a steady increase in male Botox and soon there should be no reason why statistics shouldn't reflect an equal ratio of male and female cosmetic treatments in the future.
So, come on boys make an appointment at your nearest clinic and stamp out the stigma today!
