Look Beyond the Face of Botox to Look Younger

Pregnancy Miracle Seemingly overnight, Botox became the answer to humanity's aging problems. With just a simple, pain-free injection, faces are transformed to their former, younger glory with ne'er a flaw in sight.

From the 1990s onward, Botox has reconstructed beauty and surgeons have provided countless patients with the treatment. However, the face of Botox is constantly changing. Thanks to technological advances over the past decade, Botox is being used in new and exciting arenas of medicine and is even administrable by dentists.

Botox as Treatment

Botox injections work primarily because they relax proteins that instruct our muscles to contract and prevent them from doing so. Conditions plagued by involuntary muscle contractions therefore benefit from Botox injections. Today, people afflicted with such illnesses and conditions as urinary incontinence, voice tremors, back pain, cervical dystonia and muscular spasms can receive relief for their ailments by undergoing Botox treatments.

Similar to how it aids sufferers of involuntary muscle contractions, Botox can be injected into patients with Cerebral Palsy, a broad term used to describe motor conditions which cause physical disability in body movement. Botox aids in improving the symptoms of patients with Cerebral Palsy for prolonged periods of time following the injections.

Other technological advances have led to developments which utilise Botox as a main component of treatments for migraine and hyperhidrosis, a condition characterised by profuse perspiration. Botox is used to treat the latter by disabling sweat glands for about four to nine months.

Botox in the Dentist's Office

For the best part of the last decade, more and more dentists have opted to offer Botox injections alongside their usual practice. It is estimated that one in four dentists have been trained and are now able to administer Botox to their patients with the same care and precision as cosmetic surgeons.

Dentist-injected doses of Botox are no different from those injected by cosmetic surgeons. The training dentists receive is the same as the cosmetic surgeons and the procedure is the same. In both realms of medicine, Botox injections remain outpatient procedures that can be performed quickly and effectively.

Botox injection and dental work are becoming an expected pair, with many patients opting to receive the injections from the hand of their dentist. London-based dentist Dr. Anoop Maini once commented that he told patients he could give them the teeth of a 35-year-old but unless they received work to remove their wrinkles, they would have the mouth of a 50-year-old.

As technology continues to advance, the uses of Botox will undoubtedly increase, solidifying its place in medicine and allowing it to remain one of the quickest, most common and successful procedures available.
