How to properly clean your glasses

Pregnancy Miracle When a pair of prescription glasses are made, the lenses are sprayed or dipped with chemicals that bond with the lenses help protect the lenses and your eyes. There are three different protective films they use. The first is an anti-glare coating to cut down on the amount of glare that shines through the lenses. The second is ananti-scratch coating to help protect the lenses from small particles that meander through the air and could possible put small scratches on our . The last one is an ultra violet (UV) protection to help protect your eyes from harmful ultra violet rays from the sun.

Having dirty lenses in your glasses can be very distracting and annoying, so it is important to clean them regularly. Most people think, incorrectly, that you need to use a special cleaning solution. Avoid using any type of solution other that some soap and warm water, a harsher cleaning solution risks the protective film on the lenses, and should not be used. Many of today's
are not made glass lenses but a very strong plastic. If wiped with too strong a cleaner, it can cause the lenses to develop a white haze that cuts down visibility, and greatly reduces the life of the .

It is equally important to never use anything other than the special cloth that comes with most pairs of glasses. Although you may see hundreds of people every day wiping their glasses on their shirts, this is not a good practice. Your shirt maybe right out of the dryer and feel fluffy soft to you, but it only takes 1 small grain of dirt to scratch the protective layers enough to start the clock on their demise. From this point on your glasses will get slightly worse and worse. While driving at night you will start to see that the oncoming cars and street lights give off a harsh glare, so you will think that your eyeglasses need a good cleaning, and you will wipe them off on your shirt making it appear slightly better because maybe there were some smudges but overall you have just removed more and more of the protection.

The best way to clean your glasses to ensure the longest possible life for them is to only clean your glasses with the special cloth that comes with your new glasses. If you bought your
they should have come with a cloth. If one was not provided for free with a case, I recommend purchasing the case and 2 cloths. Whenever your prescription glasses are not being used they should be keep safe in a hard case. If you just toss them on the dresser or in a bag things can rub up against them and scratch and damage the glasses, but in a hard case they will be keep safe at all times. The reason for two cloths is one to wipe the glasses when they are dry to remove smudges and the second is to actually clean them.

Use some warm water and wet one corner of the glasses. This is the side you use first to remove anything that may have gotten on your lenses like a coffee spill or spittle from a co worker. Then you use the second side to dry the lenses. Make sure to purchase different colored clothes to help ensure you do not confuse the two. All you need is mild soap and tepid water and you're safe to go. Avoid any cleansers with alcohol and harsh chemicals.
